lyrics
After a couple years of living and I mean really living
Not just alive, and being told what’s right to do
I’ve found there’s no consistency in anything
Except the things you wished had changed by now
Things that I did actively recently turned out to be
A waste of my effort and or time
But I’ll keep becoming interested in things
That I should have been doing throughout this life of mine
Passions come and passions go, like anything else they flow
Especially the friends I’ve made
But comments like these are why people avoid me
So why do I even try
So of time let’s lose track
and pat ourselves on the back
When something goes right one day
As a matter of fact
Preemptively I’ll say congrats and
Get that shit out of the way
All of this ambivalence coupled with my ignorance
of politics and what’s going on these days
Hasn’t shaken my confidence not even a little bit
which comes as a big surprise
My dad and mother always said don’t forget to use your head
You’re intelligent and wise
But I’ve heard that shit so many times after year eight or nine
You start to think that could be a lie
So take the skin off our backs
Just don’t tell us to relax
We’ll get there on our own one day
I wish I could react to every piece of news
that comes my way but I don’t have the energy
We’re under attack to be familiar with every fact
And statistic that’s relevant
But by time I learn the numbers and opinions and positions
the crowds moved on to something different
I can’t catch a break
